A charming first floor 1 bedroom apartment in the heart of Whitstable but only 90 paces to the sea.

The perfect location for a perfect seaside break, this “pearl” of an apartment is owned by the author of the Whitstable Pearl crime novels which are now a TV series starring Kerry Godliman. You’ll find plenty of these books on the shelves. The flat conveniently comes with off street parking, so park up, unpack and relax.

 

Accommodation
Thoughtfully refurbished with some lovely Art Deco features, this apartment is located in what was once the Palais de Luxe, a historic cinema which long ago showed silent movies.

It has central heating and all linen and towels are included for your stay. The double bedroom has a vaulted ceiling and skylight, creating a bright and airy ambiance. The lounge/dining room is equipped with a TV, radio, and iPod docking station for your entertainment needs. The well-appointed kitchen includes a gas hob, microwave, toaster, electric kettle, washing machine and fridge. The bathroom is fitted with a walk-in shower, toilet and basin. Complimentary tea and coffee will be provided – together with some wine to welcome you on arrival. Whether you’re looking to explore or unwind, Flat One offers the perfect base for your coastal escape. Flat One Harbour Street is in the same building as Rooftops which is convenient for 6 guests to stay in two properties.

NOTES: There is no wifi in the apartment but it’s available locally at many nearby eateries and at the Horsebridge Cultural Centre just a stone’s throw away. Children – The flat is cosy so there is not a lot of room for travel cots, pushchairs etc. Therefore it is best suited to singles or couples. The front communal door needs to be shut hard to avoid it being left open.
Less than a hundred paces from the front door will set you on the beach at the famous Royal Native Oyster Stores Restaurant while the Tudor Tea Rooms, Horsebridge Arts Centre, boutique shops, galleries, restaurants and bars are all close by.
Off Street private parking for 1 car. Further free parking in the roads to the rear of the property. The nearest paid parking is Victoria Street car park which is next the property. You can view the charges on the Canterbury City Council website. You can also visit the Just Park website to find out where to park in Whitstable. There are frequent buses running from Whitstable to Herne Bay and Canterbury. You will find bus stops along Harbour Street, High Street and Oxford Street. The trains from Whitstable station will take you to Ramsgate or further afield to London. Whitstable Station is about a 10 minute walk to the town centre. Whitstable Taxi services are available for short fares or airport runs. The nearest airports are in London and the nearest Ferry port is in Dover.

FAQ

You may arrive at your property after 3pm. You will receive the arrival instructions prior to your stay. If you arrive early, you may be able to leave your bags inside the property. Please contact us to check if this is possible. Please vacate the property by 10am on the day of departure.

Please respect the property and local area you are staying in, do not litter, waste energy or water, and take every effort to guard against fire and damage. Please also be conscientious to the neighbours and local people, especially in regards to noise.

Cleaning and laundry will be at no extra charge. Please leave the property as you found it.

Property descriptions give the maximum number of guests allowed to stay. Babies in cots are not included in the guest amounts.

All utilities are provided at no extra charge and information will be provided at each property regarding this, for example the availability of hot water. Please do not change the settings on any of the services. If you are experiencing difficulties please contact us.

If you have any special requirements, such as disabled or elderly guests or children please advise us when booking and we will advise you accordingly as to which properties would be suitable and if there is anything we can do to make their stay easier.

Smoking or vaping is not allowed at any of the properties.

There is an information folder inside the properties which provide local information, instructions on how to use equipment in the house, emergency telephone numbers, waste collection details, plus information on local attractions and transport.

Properties either have private parking, free street parking or paid car parks. Please read the property description in regards to the available parking or we will be able to advise you as to where it is best to park. However parking cannot be guaranteed and we accept no responsibility for vehicles left.

Please separate landfill and recycling into the bins provided. These will be collected weekly, see information folder for details.

Bed linen and bath towels are included free of charge. Beach towels are not provided.

A deposit of 30% of the total charge is required upon booking to reserve the property. There will be no security deposit taken on arrival at the property, however you pay a Damage Waiver when booking.

Some properties accommodate pets and this will be made clear under the individual property details. You cannot leave your dog unattended in the property. Do not let your dog upstairs or on the furniture and make sure you clear up any mess from the garden.

Upon your arrival please familiarise yourself with the exits and location and operating procedures of any fire extinguishers or blankets. Keep pets and children away from balconies, stairs, water features and open fires, making sure they are supervised at all times. Please make sure fires are fully extinguished before leaving the property or going to bed. Advise us immediately if anything is broken or you are experiencing any issues.

If you have any complaints please contact us or the owner straight away. Do not wait until you get home otherwise we cannot be given the chance to rectify any issues. Once we are aware of a problem we will do our best to help.
